Jewels and Gems
Adornment Craft Center & Gallery has made hosting a day of jewelry making with co-sponsor My Sister’s Circle a annual event. My Sister’s Circle is a is a comprehensive relationship-based program designed to mentor girls from disadvantaged Baltimore neighborhoods during their challenging transition to middle school, throughout high school, and into college. 2008
Jewels and Gems, the Saturday workshop, will be taught by Roslyn Carlos,
a jeweler that exhibits at Adornment.
The workshop will be held Saturday, June 28, 2008, from 10-12. This
will be a day of jewelry instruction for 15 girls. Breakfast and lunch,
as well as the supplies and tools needed for jewelry making will be provided.
The girls will begiven supplies to take with them after the
class
so they can make jewelry during the summer. We always
have a GREAT time!

2007
Jewels and Gems, the Saturday workshop,
was taught by Mollie Myers,
a teacher here at the M.I.M. studio.
The workshop was held Saturday, June 30, 2007, from 10-12. This
provided a day of jewelry instruction for 10 girls. Lunch,
as well as the supplies and tools needed for jewelry making were provided .
The girls were given supplies to take with them after the the class
so they can make jewelry during the summer. We always have
a
GREAT time!
2006
Jewels and Gems, the Saturday workshop, will by taught by Dotsie Mack of
Beadazzled and Annie Simpson of Beadtopia. M.I.M. will use its classroom
facility, which normally houses metals, jewelry making, and art workshops
and classes. The workshop will be held Saturday July 1st from 10-4 and will
provide a day of jewelry instruction for 20 girls, lunch, as well as the
supplies and tools needed for jewelry making that they can take with them
after the class.
Jo-Ann Aiken, owner of Adornment states, “This will expose the
girls to a working studio and gallery
and we hope that it will spark their creativity and will give them something
to do over the summer.”
